Davis and Mason win Lakeway to the Smokies 5K

Robert Davis of McMinnville was the men’s winner of the Lakeway to the Smokies 5K held on October 4th at the Tellico Beach Recreation Area in Lenoir City. Davis' time was 17:51, followed by Fabian Gonzalez with a time of 19:09.

Stephanie Mason of Clinton was the women’s winner, with a time of 21:49. Sophie Bell of Knoxville had the second best time of 22:28.

Two eight-year-olds, Lindsay Holliday of Maryville and Isaac Sikema of Knoxville, came across the finish line to loud cheers as they finished in the top 25. Holliday had a time of 22:37 and Sikema finished with 22:35.

More than 160 runners, walkers and “virtual runners” participated in the Lakeway to the Smokies 5K Run and Fun Walk--one of the best turnouts ever. The Lakeway to the Smokies 5K Run and Fun Walk is an annual event to benefit the Loudon County Visitors Bureau.
