Lakeway to the Smokies 5K Run and Fun Walk

The Loudon County Visitors Bureau (LCVB) is hosting the sixth annual “Lakeway to the Smokies” 5K Run and Fun Walk on Sunday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tellico Beach Recreation Area.

This event offers a beautiful, relatively flat course with views of Fort Loudoun Lake. The Fun Walk is a great way for families to enjoy being outside and active together.

All proceeds from the race go to the Loudon County Visitors Bureau to help support tourism efforts in the county. Even if you don't like to run or walk, you can still support this beneficial cause. Just sign up to be a “Virtual Racer”. All Virtual Racers receive a Lakeway to the Smokies 5K t-shirt.

“The event promotes healthy lifestyles for our citizens and neighbors as well as promoting the natural beauty, waterways, attractions and tourism opportunities of Loudon County. We would like to thank our presenting sponsor, Tellico Village POA for making this event possible,” said LCVB Chair Doug Davis.

Davis added that in addition to t-shirts, participants receive a goody bag and have an opportunity to win several great door prize drawings. “It’s going to be a fun event and we hope to see many runners from Loudon County and from surrounding communities,” said Davis.

Pre-registration fee is just $15, and $10 for school cross country team members (postmarked by September 30). Late registration including day of event is $20. Contact the LCVB at 986-6822 for additional information.
